1. Data Controller

This service is governed by Finnish law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What Data We Collect

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and does not collect any personally identifiable information. No consent banner is required for this. See Vercel's privacy documentation.

Notification Email Addresses

If you sign up to be notified when a price changes, we collect your email address. This is the only personal data we store.

• Lawful basis: Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a))
• Purpose: Sending price-drop notifications for GPUs you subscribed to
• Retention: Until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Sharing: Not sold or shared with third parties

You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any notification email, or by emailing us at eric@pricesquirrel.com.

3. What We Don't Collect

• We set no analytics or advertising cookies. A single functional cookie (pqs_currency) stores your currency preference for 1 year.
• We do not use advertising networks
• We do not build user profiles
• We do not collect IP addresses or device fingerprints. Vercel Analytics processes hashed IP + User-Agent daily-rotating identifiers on its side; we do not retain or receive that data.

4. Local Browser Storage

The site uses your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember a small set of purely functional preferences that make return visits work smoothly. None of this data leaves your device or is sent to us — it exists only in your browser and can be cleared at any time via your browser's site-data controls.

• Your selected UI language
• Your shipping / country preference (so we can filter store rows to the ones that ship to you)
• Your saved watchlist of tracked products
• Dismissal flags for informational banners (so we don't re-show a banner you already closed)

These are strictly-necessary / functional storage items under the ePrivacy Directive and do not require prior consent.

5. Third-Party Links

Product pages link to third-party retailer websites (Alternate, Notebooksbilliger, Coolblue, LDLC, Azerty, Megekko, Coolmod, BPM Power, Compumsa, Morele, Webhallen, Proshop). When you click through to a retailer, you are subject to their privacy policy. We have no control over data collected by those sites.

6. Affiliate Tracking & Cookies

Some links on this site are affiliate links managed through Awin and Adtraction.

Awin Publisher MasterTag

Every page on this site loads a small JavaScript from Awin at https://www.dwin2.com/pub.2824050.min.js. This script:

• Records the URL you arrived from (the HTTP Referer header, when your browser sends one).
• Tracks clicks on affiliate links so a later purchase at a partner retailer can be attributed to PriceSquirrel.
• May read or set cookies on the awin1.com / dwin2.com domains for attribution.

The script runs regardless of whether you click an affiliate link.

Adtraction

For affiliate links routed through Adtraction (Azerty.nl, Proshop.fi), cookies are set on the Adtraction click-through domain (adt284.net) in the same way.

Legal basis and third-party controllers

Both Awin and Adtraction act as independent data controllers for the data they collect through their scripts and cookies. Their processing is governed by Awin's privacy policy and Adtraction's privacy policy. Our own legal basis for embedding these scripts is our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating this free service through affiliate revenue.

How to opt out

The most reliable ways to prevent affiliate tracking scripts from running are:

• Enable your browser's built-in tracking protection (Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection, Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention, Brave Shields).
• Block third-party cookies for awin1.com, dwin2.com and adt284.net in your browser settings.
• Install a tracker-blocking extension such as uBlock Origin.

Internal affiliate-click logging

When you click an outbound retailer link, your browser is briefly routed through our own /go/ endpoint before being 302-redirected to the retailer. We record one line per click so we can reconcile what retailers report back to us. The line contains only the ISO country code derived from your request (never the IP address itself), the retailer and product you clicked, where on the site the click originated, theUser-Agent and Referer headers your browser sends. No IP address, no cookie, no personally identifiable identifier is stored. Legal basis: legitimate interest in reconciling affiliate reports (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

As an EU resident you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing)
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email eric@pricesquirrel.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data Security

Email addresses are stored in a database on a VPS located in the EU. The server is access-controlled and not publicly accessible beyond the API endpoints required to run this service.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
